This option tells WizLink which serial port on your PC that the
Wizard is connected to. Communications port options include
COM1,COM2,COM3, and COM4. In order to use COM3, or COM4, these
two ports must share the same interrupts as COM1 and COM2
(IRQ3,IRQ4).
(2) Automatic File Backup
This option causes a current application file to be renamed
before a new one is downloaded or saved from within WizLink. A
"Y" will cause the file currently being written to, to be
renamed with a ".BAK" extension before the new one is created.
If this option is set to "N" then the current file will just
be overwritten when a new file is saved to disk.
(3) Help Windows On
Enabling this option causes a context sensitive HELP window to
be on the screen at all times.Once you know how to use the
program you will want to disable this feature.
(4) Wizard 8000 series
Setting this option to "Y" tells WizLink that you have an 8000
series Wizard and that you wish to use the advanced features
that this provides you. If you want to access all of the
fields allowed for a given application on the 8000, you must
enable this option.
(5) Time Out Counter
This option is needed only if you have problems downloading or
uploading to the Wizard. If you have a very fast PC, you may
need to increase this value. The default value of 2 should
work with most PC's. See the Problem Solving section for more
information on changing this option.
(6) Edit Field Descriptions
WizLink comes with some standard field descriptions for each
application. For example, the telephone application has a
field where you enter the persons name. This field comes
defined as "Name". If you wish to change the description of
any field, depress the spacebar to change the option to "Y".
You will then be prompted for the application that you want to
modify the field descriptions of. The window looks like this:
Select an Application
TEL 1 EXPENSE
TEL 2 .
TEL 3 .
SCHEDULE .
MEMO .
ANN 1 .
ANN 2 .
TIME .
DO LIST .
Use the cursor keys to move the highlight bar to the desired
application and depress <enter>. The current field
descriptions will now be displayed for the chosen application.
Use the arrow keys to move around and press F10 to process your
changes. When you are done you will be returned to the
configuration screen. If you want to change another
applications description, just press Space and repeat the
above process.
(7) Modify Default Filenames
WizLink comes with a default filename for each application that
is used for uploading and downloading. You can change this
filename using this option. Selecting this option causes the
Select Application Window to appear (see (6) above). Choose
the application that you want to modify and press <enter>. A
box will appear that contains the current default filename as
follows:
Default Filename for 'TEL
1' (Main)...
>TEL1M.WIZ
Modify the filename displayed as you want and press <enter> to
store it. If the application that you have chosen to change
the filename of is an application that can have an alternate
file on a RAM card then you will be asked for the filename for
the application when using the RAM card as follows:
Default Filename for 'TEL
1' (Card)...
>TEL1C.WIZ
Modify the filename displayed as you want and press <enter> to
store it. You will then be returned to the Application
Selection window to select another application. Press [Esc] to
exit from this window and return to the Configuration window.
(8) European Date Format
This option tells WizLink that you want your dates displayed as
DD.MM.YYYY instead of MM/DD/YYYY. You should set this to "Y"
if your Wizard is set to DD.MM.YYYY for its date format.
(9) Transmission Delay Factor
In some cases when using a 5000 or a 7000 series Wizard, you
may experience errors when trying to send or receive. The
transmission delay factor controls the amount of time that
WizLink pauses in between each character sent to the Wizard.
Increasing this value causes WizLink to take longer to send
information TO the Wizard. The flow on information FROM the
Wizard is not affected. See the Problem Solving section for
more information on modifying this option.

the main Wizard memory there are three telephone files. Using a RAM
card gives you three more. When you have a RAM card installed, you
will see these entries in the available files window with a (c) (for
card) to the right of the specific applications names. These will be
saved on your PC with using the name that is defined in the
configuration setup.

Appending data causes all current data on the Wizard to be preserved,
and the new data that you are about to send will get added to it.
Overwrite causes all existing data in each application that you are
sending data to, to be erased before the transfer occurs, causing the
data on the __ __ _______ PC to REPLACE the current information.
Select either "A" or "O" and press <enter> to begin the transfer
process.
As soon as the transfer process begins you will see a window appear
that will show you the percentage of the file transferred at any
given time during the transmission. The window looks like this:

Editing Data Editing Data Editing Data
WizLink has the ability to view and edit the different Wizard
application files. The selection for editing is on the Main menu
("E"-code). After selecting this option one of two windows may
appear:
(1) If you have previously loaded a file into memory you will
see a window as follows:
Edit the Currently
Loaded File?
Y Y YES N N NO C C CANCEL
Entering a "Y" will take you right into the edit window
using the file that is currently loaded in memory. "N"
will cause the file directory window to appear so that you
may select a new file to edit (see (2) below).
(2) If there is no current file then you will be taken directly
into the file directory window to select a file. Use the
F6 function key to toggle between the expanded file list
and the short file list. The expanded file list shows the
files size, date and time. Use the Up and Down arrow keys
to move around the file selection window and press <enter>
when the file you wish to load is highlighted. To cancel
the operation press the Esc key. If the file that you wish
to load isn't in the current directory you will need to

There are only two (2) commands currently available for batch
processing, GET and SEND. The GET command causes the Wizard to send
information to the PC and the SEND command causes information to be
sent from the PC to the Wizard. The format of both commands is the
same:
GET 'filespec'
SEND 'filespec'
'filespec' can take on two possible values:
ALL Causes all available Wizard data files to be either
sent or received.
Filename Causes an individual file to be either sent or
received.
When WizLink connects to the Wizard, the Wizard sends a list of the
files that it can transfer. WizLink uses this list of files and
their associated filenames that have been configured by the user as
the means to determine what files to send or receive. In addition,
if you specify an individual filename, WizLink validates it from this
list of available files. Here are some example commands:
* GET ALL Requests that the Wizard send all of its
available files down to the PC.
* SEND ALL Requests that WizLink send all the available
files to the Wizard.
* GET TEL1.WIZ Requests that the Wizard send the telephone
1 application data down to the PC.
* SEND MEMO.WIZ Requests that WizLink send the Memo file up
to the Wizard.
These commands may be issued either in a file as a series of commands
like:
GET TEL1M.WIZ
GET TEL3M.WIZ
or they may be placed on the command line as follows:
WL GET TEL1M.WIZ,TEL3M.WIZ
WL GET ALL
WL SEND TEL1M.WIZ
WL SEND ALL

Initially the priority will be numbered sequentially with the fields.
You can change any of the priorities to any number between 00 and 99.
Making the priority a number "00" will cause the corresponding field
NOT to be included in the sort or in the output file. The lower the
number, the higher the priority. When you are satisfied with your
choices, press F10 to begin the process. You will be prompted for a
filename as follows:
Enter the SDF File name...

If your phone file is not formatted this way, then you have the
capability to override those using the mapping window. Just place
any combination of Sidekick field numbers separated by commas in the
Map Field column for the particular field that you want to remap.
For example, suppose that you wanted the entire name in both the
First and Last name fields in Sidekick. you would type "2,3" in the
map field column next to the Wizard Name prompt. WizLink would then
map these during the conversion.

The priority defines the order of the fields for
sorting purposes. The lower the number the
higher the priority for the sort. For example,
if you had a priority of 02 for Number and 01 for
Name then the report would be sorted by number
followed by name.
